Tis' finally the season! Hello December! (How did you arrive so quickly?!)

I'm currently writing this from the comfort of my sofa whilst trying to battle off the dreaded flu (sigh), but it does mean that I get to play around with my new laptop. My beloved Macbook unfortunately suffered a sudden death after three years, which meant that I've been without a laptop for almost three months now, as the cost of fixing it was almost as much as buying a new one! But now I'm finally up and running with a substitute which means I can finally write blog posts again!

Now that we're back on, I'm hoping I can go into the New Year with more consistency (I know I probably said that last year), but I actually mean it this time because I miss writing and uploading content. But as this is a sort of 'I'm still here' kinda blog post, I thought I'd keep it short and sweet and then get back to regular style/beauty content from then on.

But for now I wanted to share with you my top 5 favourite things about December!

1) Christmas markets
There's nothing more festive than wandering around a Christmas market with a mulled wine in hand, listening to your favourite Christmas songs and seeing everybody come together for the season. It's also a great place for festive food and treats, as well as ice-skating and buying gifts.

2) Buying presents
This year I've had 2 'secret santa' presents to buy which I always think is so much fun, as well as buying presents for all my other loved ones. I'm someone that absolutely loves buying presents for people, and I always start the month by looking over my list of ideas. I usually collect ideas throughout the year and note them down when people mention certain things they'd like...which means that come December I already have a starting point! Also love wrapping presents whilst watching a Christmas film.

3) Parties and occasions
I feel like my December social life is one of the busiest. There's Christmas gatherings, meals, parties etc. But it makes the month so much more joyful because not only do you have Christmas to look forward to, but the run-up is also just as fun. I've already had my big work Christmas party which was great as it's quite rare that we can all get together for a night and let our hair down! Then there's celebrations with friends, my flat Christmas dinner and also a cheeky trip away to Berlin coming up with my best friends! Also not forgetting New Years!

4) Reflecting
December is the last month of the year which means that naturally people start to think about what the past year has been like. It's a good time to reflect on the good times, bad times, challenging times and learning curves before heading into the New Year. Soon I will be going over my resolutions made last year and see what I've managed to tick off, before thinking about my resolutions for the coming year ahead. I don't take the resolutions very seriously, but it's nice to look back and see how different your year was to what you thought it would be.

5) Family time
Living and working in a city like London means that time seems to go by so quickly. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of city life and sometimes it can be difficult to get away and see family. My family live around 2 hours away from London, which means I need at least 2 days off from work to go and visit, which can be quite rare when you work shifts like me. However, December is not only Christmas time, but also my mum's birthday which means it is essential to get home and spend time with family which I cannot wait for. I'm unfortunately working night shifts on Christmas Eve to Boxing Day, however I will be going home between Christmas and New Years to celebrate Christmas with my family then, and also have birthday celebrations for my mum. Means I can also have a lot of puppy cuddles with my little daxie Dora. Next year one of my resolutions is to definitely get home more often!
