I'm back! So it's been a while since I last put up some style content on my blog, mainly because I've been super busy! I work full time, and so finding spare time during the week to shoot outfit photos when I'm not totally knackered can be difficult sometimes. Anyway... I'm currently in between jobs at the moment (will do another update soon), and so have some more free time to do blogging yay! I also lost my 'mojo' a bit last month when it came to style as well, probably because the weather can't make its mind up, and I have been lacking inspiration - however it's now back in full swing. Sometimes a break can be good for creativity and new motivation.

Anyway, I thought I'd kick off the Summer style season with my current favourite trends.

Denim is something that I love to wear all year round, and you will mostly find me wearing a pair of jeans day-to-day, however during the Summer months I love wearing a denim jacket. I think it instantly makes your outfit more seasonal in the warmer months and can be thrown on over any type of outfit for any occasion. I love wearing mine slightly oversized in fit as I think it gives off a more casual vibe, but there is a huge range of denim jackets on the high-street right now in every colour imaginable, and it's a definite staple in my wardrobe.

It's no secret that frills and ruffles are a huge trend at the moment. They add a lot of fun and femininity to an outfit and I think it's the perfect trend to make an outfit look more interesting. I also love how you can incorporate it subtly into an outfit with a frilled hemline, or go really over the top with a ruffled blouse/dress - either way I think it's cute and there is so much choice out there at the moment, perfect for festival season!

Bardot/off-the-shoulder style tops have been around for some time now, however I think it's a great trend to show off a bit more skin in the Summer months without exposing yourself too much! I always find that bardot style blouses/dresses are flattering on all figures and it's a more sophisticated and delicate way of wearing something more revealing- especially if you're not blessed in the chest department like me to wear something low cut!

In Summer I don't like to faff around with tying up shoelaces or doing up buckles, it's all about ease! That's why I am loving the mule/slip-on shoe trend at the moment, because not only are they super easy to throw on, but they are the perfect medium between a sandal and a closed flat. I find that they're great day-to-night shoes because they don't look as casual as flip-flops, yet also aren't a heel, and there are so many variations - personally my favourite are the loafer style.

Statement belts have also made a come-back in the past year, especially with the whole Western/buckle belt trend. Sometimes I look at an outfit and think something is missing, and most of the time it turns out to be a belt. It's something so simple but can instantly make an outfit look more put-together. It's also an easy way to make an outfit more flattering and enhance your curves if you're wearing something more loose fitting on the bottom- I usually wear a thick belt with my 'mom jeans' so that my waist is more synched in to contrast with the loose fitting denim.

What's your favourite Summer trend?
