Having relaxation time is something that is really important to me. Everyone needs to find the time to unwind, clear their mind and truly relax. Sometimes it seems hard to find the time to do this when you have such a busy schedule, but even if it's just something simple like making a cup of tea and sitting down for five minutes and gathering your thoughts, it can really make a difference to your mood in a positive way.

Lighting candles:
Lighting candles is something that I have started doing more frequently, as it makes such your home environment so much more relaxing. Having candle light instead of the brighter lights on in your house can make the mood a lot calmer, not to mention the amazing smells that come with having candles on. It instantly de-stresses me after a long day and it's something so simple that you can add into your home. Making your home environment into a relaxing and calm place is so important as it should be your own little sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.

Running a bath:
Bath-time is essential for me. It's a great way to relax not only your mind, but your body physically too. If you're in a job which requires you to be on your feet a lot, a bath can make so much difference to your body as it completely relaxes your muscles. It's also a great thinking place and a quiet place for you to have some 'me' time. Also once a week, I like to have a proper pamper evening if I have the time, and run a bath, put a face mask on and pop in a bath bomb or two - it turns your bathroom into your own little spa.

As soon as I get home from work, the first thing I do is get changed into something comfier. I can't relax at home if I'm wearing jeans, so loungewear is the perfect thing to get cosy in. Recently I've been wearing this set from HoneyZ, which is the perfect little two-piece to lounge around the house in. As much as I love wearing pyjamas, sometimes they can make me feel more tired and less motivated to get things done in the house, whereas this loungewear set is still comfy and cosy but doesn't count as sleepwear. The more fashionable, comfy clothing option for Wintery days indoors.

One of my new year's resolutions is to spend less time on social media in the evenings and more time reading. It's so hard to get caught up scrolling through Twitter and Instagram etc, and I end up spending so much time on it. I find it really hard to switch off my brain and relax when I'm looking through social media, and so in the evening I want to read more instead. Reading an actual book and not staring at a computer screen can really help the brain unwind to help you get a better night sleep. I always find that if I'm on my phone before I go to bed, I find it much harder to get to sleep because my brain is still too active.

Hot Drink:
As I said before, something as simple as making a hot drink and sitting down for five minutes can help add some more relaxation into your day. A hot drink, especially in Winter, really helps to warm you up inside and instantly lifts the mood. I personally love tea, and love making a cup and sitting down with a magazine. Something so simple, yet so effective and it definitely helps me to gather my thoughts and re-organise myself before starting the next task on my 'to-do' list.

What are your favourite ways to unwind? All of these things are so simple to do, and even if you just do one of them a day, or take 5 minutes out of your schedule to relax, it can really help to uplift your mood and de-stress your mind ready for the next day ahead.
