Dressing in Winter can seem really challenging sometimes, especially when the weather is so freezing that all you want to do is stay in your dressing gown. For me, it becomes harder to find a balance between dressing practically for the cold, and looking well dressed and put together. But there are a few style essentials in my Winter wardrobe which can be mixed up to create perfect, cosy day-to-day outfits, whilst still maintaining that 'well dressed' look (and not ending up looking like an eskimo).

Oversized knits:
In Winter there is nothing better than throwing on a massive jumper - it is the epitome of cosy. I love buying jumpers a few sizes bigger for Winter as they look so effortless and can be worn tucked in or left baggy. Also a great layering piece and easy to throw on with a pair of jeans for a casual day. Practical and on trend.

Over the knee boots:
If you're like me and love wearing jumper dresses or skirts in Winter, then over the knee boots are your saviour. You won't have to risk having cold legs as these keep you super warm and you can wear   crazy fluffy socks underneath and nobody will know. I also love wearing these over skinny jeans too as I think they add an extra something to an outfit compared to a standard ankle boot. There is something more luxurious and chic about these boots and there are so many colours and styles on the market.

Anything faux fur, leather or suede instantly make an outfit more interesting. I love wearing faux fur jackets in the Winter because they keep you really warm and look amazing. You can completely change how a plain outfit looks with one different textured piece and it looks like you have put a lot more effort into an outfit when actually you're just mixing fabrics.

High necks:
High neck tops are a definitely staple piece in my Winter wardrobe. They keep you that extra bit warmer as you're covered up and they look very sophisticated and elegant. They're also a great layering piece underneath baggier jumpers and can be dressed up or down.

As I said before, layering is great for keeping warm but also makes an outfit stand out. I like to layer shirts underneath chunky jumpers during the day, or silk camisoles over thin jumpers to create a more chic and dressy look. Something like 'slip dresses', which are everywhere right now, are great to layer over the top of jumpers or t-shirts. You can still get the feminine and pretty look of the dress, but it's a lot more practical and toned down for the current weather. Layering also means that you can still get the wear out of your more Summery clothes by layering them with other pieces which creates a whole new outfit and look.

What I'm wearing:

High neck top: Topshop
Skirt: Zara
