TAKE A BREAK

Last weekend I took some time away from my university work and went home to see family. As much as I enjoy university life and living with my friends, sometimes it's nice to take a weekend off and relax at home, before the deadlines arrive and summer placement starts (taking the chance while I can)! I mean, obviously I would happily relax in a spa retreat for a week but ya'know, home is a good alternative for now whilst on a student budget!

It's okay to take a step back sometimes when things seem to be getting stressful and too much, because it's important to look after your own wellbeing. I'm currently writing my dissertation, and whilst it's almost time to hand it in and finally say goodbye to it, I felt like I needed some time out. Even when I wasn't writing my dissertation, it was constantly on my mind and I couldn't think about anything else, so it was good for me to take a moment to clear my mind and spend time with important people.

As you probably know if you follow me on Instagram, I have a dachshund and she's my favourite. She's 3 now, and one of the things I look forward to the most when coming home, is taking her out for walks and spending some time with her.  We don't live that far away from the countryside which means there are so many beautiful places to walk her, especially at this time of year. It's also nice to be able to spend some time outdoors in the fresh air as most of the time when I'm studying, I'm indoors for most of the day. It's good to change your surroundings once in a while so that you can get a different perspective on things, and find new inspiration.

Soon I'll be graduating and starting the next chapter of my life....whatever that is (haven't quite got that far yet...should probably start to think about it). But sometimes we just need a moment or two to relax and refresh our minds before starting up work again, and this creates new motivation and ideas. I'm so excited to finish my degree and taking this little break has given me the energy to power on through the last few months.

Remember to take a break sometimes, even through exam period, busy schedules and work, as it's important to clear your mind and re-charge. You'll find it'll help you work better in the future.

Lots of love,
Emily
